Hvad er reglen om at faste om fredagen?

Svar fra Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyya (Egyptens Fatwa Hus):
Ifølge de fleste lærde, er det forhadt (makrooh) at specificere Fredagen for at faste, medmindre:
1. Man faster en dag før eller efter, grundet hadithen fra Abu Hurairah (ra) at Profeten salla lāhu 'alayhi wa sallam sagde: "Ingen af jer bør faste om fredagen, udover hvis han faster en dag før eller efter denne" [Bukhari & Muslim].
2. Denne faste tilfældigvis falder sammen med en faste man ellers har for vane at faste, grundet hadithen fra Abu Hurairah (ra) at Profeten salla lāhu 'alayhi wa sallam sagde: "Vælg ikke specifikt natten før Fredagsbønnen til at bede Natbønnen (Tahajjud), og vælg ejheller specifikt Fredagen for fastning - medmindre den tilfældigvis falder sammen med en faste du ellers ville have udført".

According to the majority of scholars, it is offensive to single out Fridays for fasting unless:

one fasts a day before or after it, because of the hadith related by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: “None of you is to fast on Friday, unless he fasts a day before or after it” [Bukhari and Muslim]; or
that fast coincides with a fast one habitually observes, because of the hadith related by Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: “Do not single out the night before the Friday Prayer to pray the Night Vigil Prayer [Ar. tahajjud], nor single out Friday for fasting – unless it happens to coincide with a fast that you are accustomed to.”
