Salamun Aleikum :0)

After the death of Prophet Muhammad SAW, the female companions realized that they must teach women their deen for the legacy of Islam to continue. There are many great female scholars and it would take hours to talk about all of them and share with you the importance of their work and knowledge. So i will just talk about two of them insha Allah.

Hafsa bint seereen
- She learnt a great deal of knowledge from A'ishah( may Allah be pleased with her)
-According to Ibn Abi Dawood: " She was the Master of the taabi'aat ( the second generation)".
-She memorized the Quran at the age of 12 and started learning fromt the great sahabah like Umm Adiyya, Anas bin Malik and others.
-She tought a number of great scholars, among them were Mohammad bin Seereen, Qataadah, Ayub, khalid Alhada'a abin. Students would come from far to learn from her.
- She spent the last 30 years of her life in her room waiting for the moment she would meet her Lord. She only came out in case of extreme need.
- Her advice to the youth: "Young ppl, utilize your youthfulness. Indeed i have seen ppl who have eyes yet are blind; young ppl, employ time in that which may benefit you in the hereafter."
- At her funeral a number of scholars were present such as Al- Hassan Al-Basri and Mohammad bin seeren RA.

Fatima Al-Samarqandiyah

-She was the daughter and wife of jurists.
-She learnt from her father and she had the capacity to authorize the fatwa( legal options).
- Her husband who was named " The King of scholars" sought her advice in legal matters and trusted her verdict over his own.
-She passed away in Halab, 581A.H, where she was teaching on the request of the King Noori-deen.

(The Mother of Imam Tahawiya was also a scholar of the Shafi3i Madhab,
Ibn Taymiyah had well over 200 teachers and it was reported that 4 of them were females . And the Sahaba's used to seek ahadeeth from Hafsa, Umm Habiba, Maymuna, Umm Salama, and A'isha may Allah be pleased with them all, ameen.)

Men of those times learnt from women, believed in their knowledge and strenght..how many brothers can say today that they have been to lectures done by female scholars?? How many can say that they value the opinion and want to learn from women?? Those men were the best exemples we have and they took advice from their wives, mothers, sisters, ect.. and learnt from them. Insha Allah may we have many other knowledgeable women in our time Ameen..may Allah increase our knowledge and make us succeed in this life and the next.
